19/01/2012 - Gazprom increases gas exports to Kazakhstan by 10% in 2011

KAZINFORM Russia's gas giant increased gas exports to Kazakhstan by 10 percent in 2011, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Kazakh ambassador to Russia Zautbek Turisbekov said during their working meeting.
"Gazprom's gas supplies to Kazakhstan in 2011 went up by 10 percent as against 2010 and there are good opportunities for further growth," Gazprom's press centre said on Wednesday.
According to Itar-Tass, Miller and Turisbekov discussed stronger Russian-Kazakh cooperation in gas survey, exploration, shipment, processing and distribution of hydrocarbons taking into account the fact that as of January 1 the Common Economic Space started functioning on the territory of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
"The sides expressed an opinion that the Common Economic Space opens new opportunities for more large-scale development of energy partnership among its member-states and meets their strategic interests," the company said.
In June 2002 Gazprom and KazMunaiGaz created the KazRosGaz joint venture on a parity basis to buy and market gas and process it at Russia's gas treatment facilities.
On September 7, 2010 Russia and Kazakhstan signed an intergovernmental agreement on the joint geological survey and exploration of the Imashevsky gas condensate field.
In April 2011 Gazprom and KazMunaiGaz signed the agreement to make KazRosGaz the field's operator.
The Imashevsky gas condensate field is located 60 kilometers northeast of Astrakhan in Russia and 250 kilometers southwest of Atyrau in Kazakhstan. Its proved gas reserves are estimated at over 100 billion cubic meters.
